Appearance
Bright, clear even scarlet red. Good strong legs.
Nose
Ripe but fresh dark plums and cherries. A trace of vanilla, some earthiness and a river-stone minerality.
Palate
Medium bodied, with a smooth, round and even mouth-feel. Ripe and juicy plums and cherries with gentle but well-defined tannic structure and acidity. Spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla. Oaky complexities of pencil shavings, a hint of leather, and a slight minerality. Gently spicy-sweet, lingering finish.
Overall
An extremely pleasant, smooth and satisfyingly complex Malbec. Typical of the Luigi Bosca style - well-oaked (12 months), and bottle aged prior to release, this is a silky drop packed full of fresh Malbec fruit characters. It's not at the cheap end of the spectrum, but is nevertheless better than fair value: it would be hard to find a significantly better Malbec in this style, at any price.
