Appearance
Bright, dense scarlet red with violet hues.
Nose
Intense cherries and red plums - bright and fresh. Spicy grape skins, nutmeg and black tea leaves.
Palate
Light to medium bodied. Bright with fresh acidity. Ample cherry and red plum fruit, with touches of liquorice-like intensity. Fresh acidity recalls red apple in its crispness. Tannins are soft, and the warm finish is long, especially for an un-oaked wine.
Overall
Foster's un-oaked entry level Malbec, like the rest of their range, is packed with concentrated fruit and liquorice-like density of flavour. The Ique is impressive in that it slots perfectly into the range, conveying the winemaker's intent without the need for oak and at a very good price. Well worthwhile.
