Appearance

Dense violet red with purple tones.

Nose

Bright and lifted, but concentrated with stewed red plums, traces of tobacco and vanilla.

Palate

Medium to full bodied. Smooth, round and velvety, with mellow acidity and light tannic structure. Ripe stewed plums, with red berry fruit. Gentle spiciness and light, well integrated oak reflecting the nose.

Overall

A wonderfully soft, smooth, but concentrated wine. It's had 12 months in a mix of French and American oak to darken and concentrate the ample fruit. A sensible 13.5% alcohol. Very well balanced for those who like their wines less aggressive, but still dark, complex and mouthfilling. An excellent choice.
