Appearance

Dense, bright violet red.

Nose

Dense, concentrated, incredibly complex but harmonious: black cherries and ripe black plums; green pepper and mint; black pepper and cinnamon; liquorice, leather, and walnut. A subtle gaminess and a fresh minerality.

Palate

Medium body. Incredible depth and complexity on the palate, absoultely true to the nose. Fine, soft, silky tannic structure and excellent acidity balances the dense flavours and aromas. Very impressive length, and a warm finish.

Overall

Absolutely cracking drop from new kids on the block Melipal. There's not a flaw to be found in this exquisitely balanced and deliciously complex Malbec. Sure, it's pricey - in absolute terms - but relative to others in this bracket it's excellent value, and for that reason alone will probably be twice the price next year. Take out another mortgage and stock up now.
